Refinishing a bathtub

08/22/2001 12:50 PM lilsanitee

Can anyone tell me how to go about refinishing a cast iron bathtub? I've recently come into possession of one, from the early 1930s, and the body is in great shape! I would really like to restore it and be able to use it in my new home. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated!

Hi lilsanitee,

I don't know but maybe your local Preservation Society or Historical Society know OR can refer you to someone that does.

My best to ya and hope this helps.

PS: You can try and find an 'old timer' in the plumbing business. Maybe he knows ...

I've run across something similar ... a friend of mine has an antique free-standing tub that needs new "claw feet" ... any ideas where I might find some??
