Relocate boiler and water heater

11/01/2006 10:28 AM honeydewer

Hello everyone, New guy on the block.

What I would like to do,is move my oil fired bolier and oli fired water heater to an outside wall. It now sits smack in the middle of my basement. I guess you can figure out where my chimney is. Thats right! It runs right thru the middle of the house. This is an 800sqft bugalow with four people living in it. The bad news is the chimney is toast. (crumbling inside) The good news is. If I remove it I just gained prime realestate. Also Relining is not an option.
What I am looking for. Is a practicle and cost effective way to repipe it.
1) Do they make a direct vent retro kit?
2) My other option would be to restack it. Can i use single wall pipe? Or is double wall recemended.
3)What can I go with 6" or 8" ID
4)What is the formula for rise and run?
TIA Frank
