Remove sash and frame

You typically need to remove the window sash and frame.

First remove the sash by loosening the hardware.

Once the sash is removed, you will typically need to use a pry bar to get in behind one vertical frame jamb and pry it out to a point where it can be cut with a bi-metal blade on a sawzall or with a hack saw..

Once cut, remove this jamb then repeat for other jambs or just pry out.

Only then install the replacement window.
