Removing floor glue

11/10/2005 10:46 PM FlAlleycat

I've got absolutely gorgeous bamboo flooring now, EXCEPT for a smeared area of Bostik's Best on every plank! I'm sooooooo frustrated and to the point of tears. I've tried a couple spot removers from Home Depot but without success. It was suggested to use Goof Off, which sorta works but takes a lot of elbow grease and several applications to get the stuff up. I have 1700 sq ft of flooring to clean, and, as I said, about every 5 sq in has a smear of the glue to get up. It's taken me all day to get half a small bedroom done. Anyone with suggestions? If so, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Bostik's Best is about the best wood flooring adhesive on the market, and the bond is indeed tenacious.

Cured adhesive is extremely difficult to remove without harming the floor finish, and sometimes not possible at all without harming the floor finish.

As stated in bostick's best data sheet, all adhesive residue msut be removed and cleaned prior to cure but you can try Bostik's Ultimate Adhesive Remover . ( http://www.bostik-us.com/TDS/TDSFiles/Bostik_Best.PDF ) . ( http://www.bostik-us.com/products/index.asp?fa=subCategoryPages&divisionId=2&categoryId=2&subCategoryId=49&subCategoryPageId=37 ).
