Removing old stain on house shingles

06/22/2003 12:54 AM three cats

Hi, Again,

This is the 2nd part of my previous question.

My shingles (siding) are about 17 years old. They were stained just once when it was built. I am trying to decide whether to use the 3 bottle kit (home depot) to remove the stain (by a professional) or to re-shingle entirely (3 sides, not the front, a Cape with 2 floors, only 1 floor visible in front).

What type of a professional would do such a job? A carpenter? Could the same person who removes the old stain also re-stain the trim and the clapboards in front (not removing stain in front - just two coats of stain to change the color).

Any professional near Middleboro, MA who would like to bid on this or give us any suggestions, please email us.

Thanks!
