I am restoring old furniture, and need to remove the old timber stain first. A while ago I was told of a method of removing stain using two products - I am sure one was oxalic acid, but I cannot remember the other. Both were dissolved in hot water, and obviously thick rubber gloves had to be used. Also they were to be used in a particular sequence (apply one first, clean it off, then apply the other and clean it off). I have forgotten the full details. Can anybody help? Thanking you! |

First off wood stains are fine pigments that are held onto the wood with binders (basically a thin varnish) and a stripper should remove them.
Oxcallic acid is used to remove water and rust stain and it will remove other stains.
There is a 2 part wood bleach. One part is hydrogen peroxide. Don't remeber what the other one is off hand. But you buy it as a kit and mix them together and then apply them.
They remove the natural color of the wood.
Chorline bleach will remove the color from anyline dyes. |
