Replacing front steps, concrete to wood

09/06/2009 03:54 AM three cats

We're thinking about replacing our front step/landing from concrete to wood (or wood-like). Our steps is one piece of concrete, about with a landing and three steps, all of which are about 5' in width. MY QUESTION: If I want to have wooden steps/landing built, is it possible to make it OVER the concrete? Or do I need to removed the concrete? If I need to remove the concrete part, how would one do so? What types of wood-like work well on one's front steps that are never used ... but face NE in New England (get some mildew due to dead leaves, etc., and not a lot of sun). Thanks to anyone who can help us! Betty
