Restoration of 1900 farm house

11/15/2005 11:45 AM nancyh

Have been restoring an old farm house, back to it's original condition. The long narrow NW kitchen and dining room to the West of it will be turned into one Country Kitchen. Want people to feel they've stepped back 100 years when they enter.
Area will be 17' by 155".
Have old pine planks full 3" by 12" which would make a great island. Also have a huge unrestored hutch on chest. The ceilings are 9' so the room could be OK with it.
Had wanted to put old pine cupboards, floor to ceiling on the South walls to store electrical appliances. Dining room already has a smaller hutch on chest.
The kitchen has a West window, South door to living room and in SW corner a door to the back kitchen. Dining room has a North facing window, door on the South to the living room, and large open doorway to the parlour on its West wall.
Any and all ideas are welcome since I've not seen anything done like it (to get ideas).
