Restoration of wood

10/24/2001 09:09 AM kimber4444

I just moved into a 1925 home, and the woodwork is it's natural color, however the varnish has "alligatored". I know I saw a show on this a few years ago and there is some type of oil that will "refinish" the varnish, or get rid of the alligatoring without going to the trouble of stripping, sanding and refinishing.

Now, the question is... what type of oil is it? I believe I remember it to be Linseed oil, but can't recall 100%. Does anyone happen to know? Thanks in advance!
