Roofing nailer and framing nailer..Can I????

08/02/2006 10:46 PM jpk999

I am in a little dilemma, and was wondering if a framing nailer can be used to install shingles. I was looking at purchasing a roofing nailer but didn't want to spend the money on something that I would only use a couple of times. There are limitations because the roofing nailer can only take roofing nails. I know the heads that fit in the framing nailer aren't as wide as a typical roofing nail but I could actually get some use out of the framing nailer if it could hold down the asphalt shingles. My other option would be of course to just rent the roofing nailer for 25.00 (but of course another 80.00 could have purchased the roofing nailer). Let me know what my options are, don't want to use the hammer and nail if I can avoid it....
