I thought I was alone until I ran into the postings on this site. I have been in our house 1.25 years. It is a modular house by Deltec. We had the MW windows (low E, etc) installed at the factory because we thought it would have tighter tolerances. One of the windows was broken in transit. It was over six months before we got it resolved with MW.
In 2/07 I noticed two of the casement windows were clouding up. I suspect that the seal has been broken. MW is willing to replace the windows but is unwilling to send anyone to the house to ensure that the sizes and style are correct.
Meanwhile, the back bedroom casement window has begun leaking/freezing.
We live in western Massachusetts and there are no MW field reps in the area.

Welcome to the club Zimmerc01. Keep harrassing your builder, he is the one that is ultimately responsible. We called and emailed pictures to our builder every day and asked him what he was going to do about our situation. He finally caved in and the next day we got a call from MW, but as I stated in my previous post, they sent the window supplier from the lumber yard to the house. I called them (MW) back directly and told them that this would not suffice. Now they are sending a person from GEM services this Wednesday to take care of the problems. It's truly sad to see people sinking their life savings into a "dream" home only to be met with misery and regret. Hang in there and keep calling!

GEM Services, which I found out is a field service rep for MW, came to our home yesterday to look at our window situation. What he ended up doing was inserting felt and foam pads at various locations in the window which he said will greatly reduce the wind infiltration. What he did find on our fixed windows was that water was getting by the outside seal and pushing its way to the inside of the home. He had to go out and re-seal the window from the outside. He also found that water was getting in from around most of the windows in the home, this we took up with the builder who now sends people to spray water directly at the windows and go in and remove the molding around the windows and see where the water is coming from. Ready for this? The water is coming in not only from around the window, which by the way all the siding around the windows has to come off so they can seal them the right way this time, but it is coming in because the water has no where to go due to the design of the window and drains backwards into the home. According to the carpenters, this is a big design flaw in the window itself. Imagine that!

We have a house in Phoenix area and are experiencing water leaking issues with our windows.

How can we tell if our windows are MW windows? We don't have contact info of the previous owner and we are now very worried about the problem.

A contractor from a glass company suggested applying clear silicon sealant along the edges where the glass meets the frame. He cannot guarantee that this will stop the leaks.

I will look at our windows and see if I can find where MW puts their name on them. I know that the original sticker on the window had MW written on them, but that won't do you any good. I will get back to you Flo999.

WE JUST PURCHASED A NEW HOME IN NORTH CAROLINA. IN LESS THAN A YEAR OUR WINDOW SASHS WERE SWOLLEN IN THE CORNERS AND A WALL IN THE GARAGE WAS MOLDED. A MW WINDOW REPRESENTATIVE CAME TO THE HOUSE AND VERIFIED THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY A FLAW IN THE DESIGN OF THE WINDOWS, 18 OUT OF 20 LEAKED. HE DID A QUICK FIT BY CAULKING THE CORNERS AND INDICATED WE WOULD HAVE NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. I DON'T BELIEVE A QUICK FIX IS THE ANSWER. MW WINDOW WARRENTY OFFICE WILL NOT ANSWER THE PHONE NOR RETURN ANY CALLS LEFT BY MESSAGE TO DETERMIN WHO IS GOING TO MAKE THE REPAIRS CAUSED BY THERE DEFECT.

What type of windows are you having a problem with? Are they all vinyl or wood covered with vinyl? Casement windows seem to be causing more problems that the double hung.
If anyone has a model number or name of the window style it would help.

All windows are not created equal. I am interested in knowing the type of windows. Clad, All wood, casement, etc.

I am sorry to tell you the quick fix will NOT work...we also have a new home [Oct '06] and MW windows hired a subcontractor to come and place small blocks of foam on inside corners to try and prevent all the ice build up on the inside of our windows.

It did NOT work.

Our builder, Pro-built homes in Mifflintown, PA has done nothing for us but has obviously decided these are junk windows and now installs Anderson windows in their homes they build. [After I told them about this site]

Be aware of modular home builders such as Pro-built homes...they use less than sub-standard quality products and will not back the products they place in your home.

We built our house in 1991 and used all wood MV windows. We painted and sealed them. A couple of years ago we noticed that the sills on each and every window was beginning to rot, even though the paint still looked fine. We've started to replace our windows with vinyl construction windows from Home Depot. I hope we have better success with these.
