Safest Way To Clean Baby's Crib?

10/17/2006 02:03 AM marybogue

Hello! I am due to give birth to my first child Dec.1st. I recieved an excellent crib from my brother and his wife that they used with their daughters. The crib has been sitting in their attic and is a little dirty. I am hesitant about what cleaners to use on the crib since a newborn's lungs are so fragile and sensitive. I wasn't sure using a disenfectant would be ok (the baby won't even be in the crib until Jan) or if I should use something more mild. I do want to get any germs off that may be lurking. PLEASE HELP! Thank you, Marybogue

Clorox makes a disinfectant spray that they say is fine for childrens toys. If it is just diluted bleach, it my be the best for you. Clorine Bleach dries to a salt. In that state, it is not dangerous. You could probably rinse the salt off (there won't really be enough to notice.)

Dish soap and bleach are my suggestions.
