Safety on Bob Vilas shows and Ryley the carpenter?

There is alot to be said on this subject and I can only offer some personal opinions.I don't think there is anything more important than using personal safety equipment in any profession where hazards are present. Not only is ones health at risk but this is part of the reason our healthcare and insurance costs are so high.I can't speak for anyone in particular however, there are many people who have been in trade work many years without using safety procedures just like many people who don't wear seat belts and have not been in a car accident. You are correct that it sends out the wrong signal to anyone new to the job.If you ever watch Norm Abrams (the "other carpenter")on his show he is careful to point out that you should follow all safety practices etc, etc.I doubt there are many of us who follow every safety practice during the course of the day in all of the many activities we pursue but I agree that if you are teaching/showing a procedure that the safety factors should be included.
