Screened Porch -- width of sections

01/22/1999 08:48 PM

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if a 10 1/2 foot wide section of screening is too wide for a single section in a screened porch. We are hoping to have a 21' x 14' porch with just 1 beam in the middle of the 21' side. We have heard about the screen-tite system --- do you know if this would hold up as a 10 1/2 foot section?

Screened Porch -- width of sections

What concerns me more than the screen is the 21 foot span of the porch with only one beam in the middle if you live in snow country. A 10&1/2 foot span is going to require some large timber to support the load.
With rigid screen supports and held properly in place along the tops and sides, the screens should hold up with no noticeable sag. Self replacement of the screen itself will be a real bear on that large of a section. Good Luck!!!!!
