I'm trying to replace Sears-brand deadbolts (no longer made), both kinds -- one with key entry on both sides of door, other with inside thumb latch and key for outside only. Two problems:
-- The double-key type does not have any screws or covers for hidden screws on outside or inside. How do I remove or gain access to the lock's interior? (I've tried unscrewing the rims... and removing the throw bolt itself first, neither idea works)
-- The inside latch type DOES have 2 screws to remove the thumb-latch plate, and I've removed that, but the inside of the deadbolt has no obvious way to remove it (an inside-house half seems to be screwed to an outside half, but screwed from the outside -- so cannot access any screws from the inside direction).
Any suggestions or insights gratefully accepted!! thanks, Nash |
