I live in a 4-story brownstone in New York that was built in 1890. The engineer who inspected the building said it was structurally sound, but lately we have noticed that the house rumbles, shakes, or vibrates when large trucks or buses drive by. We think this may be related to structural problems with the street we live on, which has had cave-in and sinking pavement.
