Shower head/stem - teflon tape removal? |

I am trying to replace the trim on my Delta shower faucet. All went well until I tried to remove the pipe coming out of the wall for the shower head. It won't unscrew. I'm sure it has teflon tape on it because the shower head did (although it unscrewed easily). Any tips on getting it out without damage? I assume it will unscrew counter-clockwise? |

I can hardly see into the hole where the pipe is - not even enough room to get a finger in. Do you think I will rip out the pipe if I try too hard? |

it all depends on how the ell was anchored and the type of pipe that was used.
that's why i asked what was on the other side.if it's a closet you could create an access panel so you could see what you're dealing with.
i don't like to assume. |

The shower is in the corner of the bathroom, and the shower head is mounted on a thin wall - other side is a whirlpool tub. House was built in 1999 - don't know if that helps. Maybe I'll try and use a pipe wrench one more time then call a plumber. I can't fix the very slow drain in the shower anyway, so it may be worth bringing someone in to fix it all. |
