Smart Windows

Has anyone had experience using "Smart Windows" in residential construction?
http://www.howstuffworks.com/smart-window.htm http://www.popsci.com/popsci/computers/article/0,12543,352041,00.html http://www.refr-spd.com/html/smartglass_com.html

I remember seeing small (8"x8") panels of this glass in Edmunds Scientific 10 or 15 years ago and now I keep reading about it being used for home and office windows. I would like to use it for a house I am planning to build, but I can't find any window manufactures that actually sell the stuff.

Has anyone used this? From the sounds of the popsci article, this will double the cost of my windows. Also, I have seen electrochromatic glass that goes white and glass that goes black... Obviously white would be preferred.
