Solar power light for inside shed

07/16/2006 06:35 PM mhcountry

Has anyone here come across a light that would be good for an 8x10 shed that has no electricity? I am looking for some type of solar light where the solar panel can be mounted on the outside of the shed and a wire runs the power to the fixture inside the shed. I have seen some lights like this but they are usually spotlights for outdoors. If it had a control switch that would be even better, or motion detector, so that the light would not automatically be on all the time inside the shed once it gets dark.

Thanks!

You will probably not find a product like that.

But if you do a google on -alternate energy solar- you will find suppliers for pannels, chargers, batteries and lights that you could use to put together a system.

Thanks for the info!

Being a real beginner with regard to anything like that, in your opinion, is it something a new do it yourselfer could accomplish? I had a feeling it might come to something like that because I have not seen a product like this.

Do you know or does anyone else know of any instructions to do something like that....put together a homemade solar light?

I have not worked with any solar equipment.

But I suspect that this will be fairly simple.

Connect the solar panel to the charge control. Connect the charge controller to the battery.

And attach the light fixture to the battery.

As I said do a google for the supplers. It has been a while since I looked at any, but they seemed to be helpful and would answer questions and/or had forums.

Look and see what they have, then see how difficult it would be to connect it together.

a quick search for "solar shed light" yields several turnkey systems for $99 or less.....

Solar Panel w/mount, storage battery and fluorescent light(s)........

"...measure once.....cut twice....throw that one away and cut a new one...."
