Solenoid Valve

The solenoid valve is what is inside the washer that controls the water. You will hear a click or thump when it opens. But if the motor is starting right away you might hear it anyway.

But I did not realize that cycle (I assume the timer advance) was controlled by the water level switch.

Dan would know better than I, but it sound like it might be the water level switch telling the timer that it is already full.
