That symptoms often occur when the solenoid(s) on the gas burner valve becomes intermittent, which is a very common way they fail.

Those same symptoms however could also be caused by the dryer's control system shutting off power to the burner... for whatever reason.
Power to the burner assembly would need to be confirmed or the continuity of those solenoid coils checked, *at the time the trouble occurred* to isolate the probable cause. If power to the burner assembly was stopping, further testing would then be required to find the reason for that stoppage.
