Folks,

My wife says she saw on HGTV a particleboard floor that was stained and looked pretty good. This sounds like a creative (and cheap) alternative to installing hardwood over my existing subfloor (not sure if it is plywood or particleboard).

Any one have any experience with this type of project? How does it look? Is it cheap looking or can it be made to look like a decent wood floor?

What type of stain and sealant should be used for either particleboard or plywood?
