Hi I am looking for recommendations on comfortable riser height and tread depth for a person who uses a walker. Would it be correct to allow for all 4 legs of the walker to be on the tread plus 10"-12" of standing room? Graphic Standards sizes walkers approximatly at 2'8" wide and 1'2" deep. This would give a tread of 24" - 26". This is for a private residence in upstate NY, where the clients will eventually be retiring to. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. Chris Bilingham |

In a relatively short time your clients may need a ramp. Your clients may have misgivings about this but it sure beats having to rip out a stair case in two years. Considering a 26" tread and a short riser this is going to be a really long starway anyway. good luck |

yeah really. the stair case would probably have to go around the house two or three times. did you consider maybe installing one of those electric chairs? |
