Stair recommendations

Hi

I am looking for recommendations on comfortable riser height and tread depth for a person who uses a walker. Would it be correct to allow for all 4 legs of the walker to be on the tread plus 10"-12" of standing room? Graphic Standards sizes walkers approximatly at 2'8" wide and 1'2" deep. This would give a tread of 24" - 26".
This is for a private residence in upstate NY, where the clients will eventually be retiring to.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

In a relatively short time your clients may need a ramp. Your clients may have misgivings about this but it sure beats having to rip out a stair case in two years. Considering a 26" tread and a short riser this is going to be a really long starway anyway.

good luck

yeah really. the stair case would probably have to go around the house two or three times. did you consider maybe installing one of those electric chairs?

Elevators are getting more common in residences.
