Stripping paint off Chimney

01/28/2002 09:27 AM tcol

We're stripping paint off our 50 year old Chimney. We've been using chemicals and that's allowed us to get the job about 80% finished. Now we're stuck. How do we get the remaining paint removed that is in the crevice of the bricks and preserve the integrity of the brick surface?

Dear TCOL,
There is a stripper that one mates with a drill. It looks like a circular broom but is very stiff. Home Depot carries them. It dosen't do damage to the mortar but will strip the paint. Get two, as they wear out fast on masonry.

we did that....it chewed up the circular drill pad. Really quickly acutally. But thanks for the advice. Maybe we grabbed the wrong kind.
