Supporting pergola on 8:12 pitch roof

Hi all, I'm building a pergola over my deck that consists of 2X10 rafters on 24" centers, supported on one end by (2) 2X12's straddling 6X6 posts. All lumber is cedar

The problem I'm having is that I can't sink posts up next to my house because of doors/windows in the way and underground utilities, so I need to know how to terminate the pergola into a 8:12 pitch hip roof, thus using the roof for support.

I've thought of bolting a "ledger" board to the roof and overlapping shingles over the top of it, or running lumber vertically through roof, attached to the trusses and then attaching my 2X12's to it (allowing space underneath fro rain run-off.

Anyone have any thoughts on how to do this?
