Table lamp wiring diagram

I'm building a table lamp, it's going to have 2 lights....1 in the column of the base and the other up where the normal bulb goes under lamp shade, I want to have the capability of turning lower light off while upper light still lighted and vise verses top off bottom still lit......how do I wire this? Any help well appeciated! Thankyou Smitty

Table Lamp

The best way is to use a lamp socket with a built in "3-way" switch that will go from OFF, night light, main light, both, OFF.

They are not common to find, but here is one source.

The first is a full kit with harp, lamp cord, candalabra socket, etc.

lamp switch wiring (3 way)

After cumbersom registration on site, I am disappointed that video for lamp switch replacement is not available. Why was it listed if it isn't available?
