Tankless water heaters

11/04/2001 07:59 AM FixerB

I've been looking into a tankless water heater. Is there anyone here from the NE US that has one? If so, how do you like it? How many baths/kitchens is it supplying? How much did it costt to purchase/install?

Regarding tankless:
There are only a few brands of Tankless Water Heaters available in this country today. We sell both the Bosch Aqua-Star and the Takagi brand.
The Takagi produces more hot water per minute than any other tankless available in this country.
Here's what the tankless can handle:
Bosch: 1 faucet on-going @ 2.8 gpm
Takagi TK-1: 2 faucets running on-going @5.3 gpm
Takagi TK-2: 3 faucets running on-going @ 6.9 gpm
For example: If you like to have 2 showers and the washer running at the same time, the TK-2 would be your best choice.

Tankless water heaters

Hello,
It's Kay again from Energy Innovations.
I forgot to mention that I have a Takagi TK-2 in my own home. It replaced two 40 gallon tanks. I have 2.5 baths in my home and it provides more than enough hot water.
Any plumber or HVAC guy can install these. If you need help finding an installer in your area, we can help you find one.
We distribute all over the country.
Thank You
Kay

How does "any plumber" affect the warranty on TK-2 product. It seems such a wonderful product, and I have thoroughly researched both Takagi and Rinnai products. Rinnai says must be installed by a plumber having been through qualification process.

Kay, how does the Takagi perform after three years when filling a teapot? The majority of problems are at low flow with hardness collecting in the small tubes after a few years. This can be helped by servicing the unit as done in Europe and Asia by disassembling, cleaning and reassembling with a running inspection afterwards every year. US homeowners are used to neglecting high-efficiency units. Do you have a web site listing all the repairmen who will do the yearly service?

Tankless water heaters

04/27/2002 12:17 PM Tankless?

I have heard that a drawback to tankless water heaters is lack of temperature control at low volumes. For instance, if someone is using a single faucet to wash hands, the water will be too hot. Any thoughts?
