I am building a new luxury home on Long Island and the contractor suggested spring a termite barrier about the foundation before it is backfilled and also under the basement floor before it is poured. I am also supposed to add the Watchdog spray-on liner to the outside foundation walls for waterproofing and also to keep insects out of any foundation cracks once it settles.

What's the question?

My question is - is the termite barrier that my contractor suggested a good idea or is it a waste of money taking into consideration that I also applied a rubber coating to the exterior foundation walls.
