I built a new home last year and apparently the builder signed up for some yearly plan termite treatment/inspection. I just
got the bill after being here a year.. It's 100 bucks a year. Is it really neccessary to
do it yearly. Seems like overkill to me but I wanted some opinions.

Strongly recommend that you continue with the treatments. I live in WA state and do pest inspections and have my home done quarterly. However, bugs differ in areas, check with your State Dept of Agriculture for the type you have there and the recommendations for prevention. Most of the PCO's are honest, but as everywhere, there are exceptions.

If you cancel the plan and then later have a a termite problem, it will cost you a bundle.
That happened to me. Fortunately, I caught the critters before they had gone far.
A once-a-year inspection and treatment for the life of the house is usually a good idea.
(I pay a bit less than $100 per year, but maybe that's standard in your area.)

last year we were treated for termites to the cost of $850. the terminator said that if we subscribe to the $100/year check-ups, any subsequent treatment is free. if we drop it, though, any treatment wil be full price. they also said that after about seven years with no sign of infestation, the house is considered cured and no further treatment should be required. i'm not sure if i totally buy into that, but i definately am going the do the $100/year thing. good luck!

don't get rid of it ever. not sure what the bug situation is where you live but out here in GA. Termites are a nightmare and if you sustain damage you will be shelling out hords of cash to fix it.

Well, I also cancelled the Sentricon treatments and now I have to re install the system. So, I was penny wise and pound foolish. I would also recommend not canceling the yearly subscription. The question I have is, the people who came out and looked at my house also want to drill and inject a bait/treatment gel that will eliminate the current infestation while the Sentricon takes care of the problem long term. I have read mostly positive reviews of these treatments on the web, but I have not read anything regarding having little children around those treatments or the impact on home values. Does anyone have an idea? There would be no spraying or dust. Just the gel in the drilled holes and the Sentricon.
