Thanks for your reply. I thought I was doing something good for my dryer. Now I wish I'd left it alone.
I did notice that there is now a lot of lint outside of the house, by the dryer vent opening outside.
I did not disassemble the dryer in any way. I just shoved the brush down into the opening where the lint screen was and pushed it around. Then I stuck the flat vacuum hose attachment down there and shoved that around.
I will try to remove the bottom panel today and see if anything is stuck in the blower fan. The dryer was not only noisy, it was vibrating like crazy.
