Tile Countertop Support???

11/14/2001 04:30 PM EmmittEddie

I have heard many people suggest backerboard over plywood and just as many say pour a 2 inch concrete bed over the plywood... many say the backerboard breaks down over time and will give a "wavy" pattern to my kitchen counters.... what do you suggest? And why is one better than the other?
HELP!
Thank you!

Tile Countertop Support???

EmmittEddie,

Use backerboard but FIRST, level the counter with Leveler. THen, you won't have the 'waving' problems you're talking about. It's OK for the counter to tilt VERY slightly to the rear. If yours does this, just make sure your backsplash is a GOOD one. (You don't want dishwater or any spills ending up BEHIND your counters ...)

My best to ya and hope this helps.
