Toilet Seating on Hardwood Floors

04/06/1999 02:18 PM

We just had hardwood floors installed in a variety of areas including a small bathroom. I removed the toiled and sink for the installation.

Here's my problem: How do I raise the waste pipe flange sufficiently to reseat the toilet after the new floor is installed? The new floors are about 3/4" higher than the original floor.

I have received conflicting advice. It has been suggested that I use a silicone caulk to attach multiple collars to the waste pipe until it is tall enough. I have also been told to merely use two or three wax rings to seal the extra space. What's the real deal?

Thanks for your help!
