Dear JDA, If the screw is stuck in wood, that would tell me that the phillips head is stripped. Take a hack saw and cut a channel into the screw head and use a flat tipped screwdriver to remove it. If the phillips head is not buggered up, get a hammer and a punch and give the screw head a few wacks.(gently) If the screw is stuck in steel, use a good rust buster, let it set for an hour and retry.
