I am a disabled 65-year-old homeowner. I need to change or tighten toilet seats in my home occasionally. I am physically unable to tighten and unscrew the plastic nuts onto the long bolts on virtually all toilet seats; I am simply not strong enough to do so manually using only my hand. I asked a floor man at Home Depot if there was ay tool or socket that could be used to remove the nuts from toilet seats. Unfortunately, he had no suggestion other than using a bare hand to tighten or remove such nuts.

I am writing in hopes that you might be able to suggest a tool or socket that I can attach to a socket wrench that will solve this problem for me. If no such tool exists, I sincerely believe one should exist, and, in that case, I really wish some enterprising entrepenuer would create such a tool soon.

Hi Dick Smith,
Loose toilets seats are a real problem and I understand the situation you are in.I have used a deep socket wrench (similar to a spark plug wrench)however,the location of the nuts is more of the problem than having the right tool.
My only suggestion is to consider removing the existing seat and purchasing a fixed seat that attaches to the rim of the bowl.Although this is not a perfect solution,it is far better than falling off the toilet because of a shifting seat.
