I am in the process of finishing my basement. In the bathroom we plan to put in a ceramic tile floor but are unclear as to how we should prepare the concrete floor.

What is the best way to prepare the concrete surface?

Should we put down a wood underlayment followed by concrete backer board?

Any advice is appreciated.
