Vacating house in winter

10/24/2007 05:11 PM bettyvn1

We're about to sell our house. We live in Northern MN. Just found out the new owner plans to drain everything and close it up for the winter. This is a house. A nice house...not a cabin. It can be 30 below here for extended periods. We're worried about how the caulk, wood, drywall joints, etc. are going to fare in subzero weather. We built this house....don't want him to vacate it and then move into a place with lots of problems come spring. Anyone out there know any facts on how subzero weather affects the things I mentioned? Your speedy reply is appreciated. We only have a couple days to convince him he should spend the extra money and heat the place.
