Walls

11/04/2002 12:53 PM rosebud

We recently bought a house built in 1929. All the walls are still original, meaning I guess that they have not been drywalled or anything other than original wallpaper. Under the wall paper is boards that are in pretty good shape, what I would like to do is just sand, stain or whatever to make the boards nice and fresh looking. I have taken the wallpaper off one wall and pulled out the million little wall paper nails. What is my next step? Do not feel that I will be offended by responding in very basic language because my experience with tools and home repair is limited to a paintbrush.
