Water softener timer control

05/23/2001 11:15 PM delos22

My water softener timer control is broken. Consequently it won't turn off and the water goes straight to the drain. I have tried unplugging the timer from the AC outlet but the valve must be still open. I'm losing gallons of water. It's like turning on your kitchen sink faucet and leaving it running constantly. I have to turn off the main water valve going in to the softener but it's a pain because once I do that, all the water in bathrooms, sinks and water heater stops. I've tried calling a repairman but they can't get to it for a week. Most repair shops only work on their water softener products (which I don't have). I don't want to have to turn on/off the water valve everytime I want to use the bathroom. What I would like is to manually close the open valve so the water goes to the pipes throught the house and not straight into the drain. I have a old Intermatic timer control and a Erie Motortrol motor. It's a one tank system. I have no documentation on any of the water softener components. If manually do something so I don't have to keep turning on/off the water then I can wait for the repairman. Any help is appreciated.
