What is a HEAT MONINTOR????

01/27/2008 09:30 AM gjeepn1557

The home that I want to buy was forclosed on and they took the monitor..What is that?
I posted a question on the electrical blog too, because even if I did get one,, I can plug it in..or do I. because I have ice condiensation on the electrical panel. The house has been vacant since last sept. so the house has been freezing cold inside.
Whats the best way to "heat up the house? There is a gas line to a stove. a eletric water heater. But missing the MONITOR. I do not know what that is. WHo should I call, what do I get? Is that gas or kerosene? or oil?
I have no idea. okay...I'll admit it..I am a woman that doesnt know what the heck it is..I am buying my first home and completely in tha dark. And I don't want to get taken.
HELP!

It's a gas

As there is a gas line to the stove, there is probably a gas heater in the house. A heat monitor is too generic a name to know what it is for. Just call a heating repair company to tell you what you have and what to do. If there is a price to it, get three estimates before proceeding. You'll get advice in the process, much better than asking someone who can't see your house from here.

HELP ! the monitor............what kind.....

01/27/2008 12:44 PM gjeepn1557

the monitor is not there the owner who got forclosed on took it with him.....There is a 2 inch vent hole with a copper tuber that sticks out of the house. there is also a copper tube where the cooking stove is...No tank is around the house or inside the house. so It must either be propane or kerosene? So I would have to a monitor....I want to know does it run electrically..because the electrical box has ice crystals that have formed from the house being not vacant though the winter.
so now what?

OK. You aren't going to read what is written, nor try to understand that there is no particular thing called a heat monitor. So just accept it it this:

Monitor Brand

What kind of heat is in the house? A "heat monitor" could be a fire/smoke dector. A freeze alarm. Maybe even a combustable gas alarm?

But pure speculation is that you are talking about a Monitor Brand space heater.

monitor

It was to heat the home. I think it was either a propane or kerosene monitor heater(if there is such a thing) But the monitor heater was to heat the home..what kind I am not sure. It has a small copper tubing sticking out of the side of the home and next to it is a hole about 2 inch looks to be a vent hole.
