Same boat

MissDenise, I haven't received any feedback, so I'm guessing there isn't an easy or obvious answer to this dilemma. Have most of the boards gone bad on your deck? I've only lost two so far, so I've able to use my deck, but I expect the boards to continue to crumble over time. If it reaches a point where I can't use the deck, I probably would have no choice but to replace the boards and hope for the best regarding the lawsuit.

Using deck

At this point 2 boards have gone bad but that was in a matter of 3 days that they both fell apart. Unfortunately I expect to see more rotting.

Using deck

I would call the attorney again for professional advice and ask the question about using the deck. They should know how to proceed...

geo deck problems

10/04/2008 09:43 PM andlosch

I am a deck builder in the CIncinnati area. I have done over 70 geo decks. My opinion is every board on every geo deck will eventually decompose way before the warranty. This is a huge safety hazard and a serious crime if these guys get away with this.

Geo deck is a crumbling mess

10/07/2008 01:09 AM happeebabbee

I had a Geo deck built in the summer of 2002, but due to warping, splitting and boards coming up it was replaced in the fall of 2004. The new boards started spliting and crumbling in the summer of 2007. This spring I had 12 boards split and the total top layer crumbled down to the bottom layer out of 49 boards. The railing split and sagged in many places. Now at this time I have 25 out of the 49 boards split, warped and crumbled to the bottom layer. My deck is 16 X 23 ft with two steps down to the ground with railing along the side.
It looks horrible and worse yet it is a safety hazard. No one can walk on it for fear of injury.
I am retired and cannot afford to replace this deck. I would like to join the class action lawsuit and need to know what to do next. I live in SW Michigan.
Thanks,
Theresa

Hi "andlosch",

I would be interested in discussing the issues you are experiencing with the Geodeck decking material on your deck installations. You have probably been exposed to the same problems we are facing now. Feel free to call me at 217-483-3447.

Theresa,
Go to geodeckclassaction.com and you need to fill out an information sheet. The lawyers should contact you sometime after that.
