We have purchased a ranch house and are renovating it. It's your typical ranch with a long hallway to the bathroom and bedrooms. We had the contractor widen the bathroom door. The door opens into the room. There is not enough depth to the room for my husband to enter then close the door behind him so we decided to have bi-fold doors installed. Well, this has finally been completed and we now find that the doors themselves take up so much room that it is once again near impossible for my husband to maneuver into the room. He can go into another bedroom that is across the hall from the bathroom then go straight in but that's not convenient. The nice thing is that this bedroom will be used as a den and in connected to our master bedroom via a walk-in closet. This will allow him to easily go around in a circle thru our bedroom, into the den, then into the bathroom.
Bottomline here is does anyone have any ideas on what kind of door we might be able to try? Once all renovations are complete we hope to correct this issue. Right now our only thought is to widen the door once again, from 32" to 36". Oh yes, we considered a pocket door but that wasn't possible for a few reasons. |
