Whirlpool Dryer GGQ9800LW1 - cleaned lint - Now noisy |

Greetings. I was on a spring cleaning kick today and used the long dryer lint removal kit brush to remove the lint from the area where the lint screen goes. I was surprised that I didn't get much out, since the dryer is used heavily and is 3.5 years old.
Anyway, I tried to dry a load of towels this afternoon and the dryer is extremely noisy now. It is heating up, the drum is turning, but the noise level is extreme.
What should I try?
Thank you very much. |

** removed the lint from the area where the lint screen goes. I was surprised that I didn't get much out **
There are other places lint can collect in greater quantity inside the the dryer.
** the dryer is extremely noisy now. **
Did any part of the dryer get disassembled and maybe not put back correctly?
Other than that, something possibly could have been forced into the dryer's blower fan? At least some disassembly of the dryer might be required to determine the exact cause.

Thanks for your reply. I thought I was doing something good for my dryer. Now I wish I'd left it alone.
I did notice that there is now a lot of lint outside of the house, by the dryer vent opening outside.
I did not disassemble the dryer in any way. I just shoved the brush down into the opening where the lint screen was and pushed it around. Then I stuck the flat vacuum hose attachment down there and shoved that around.
I will try to remove the bottom panel today and see if anything is stuck in the blower fan. The dryer was not only noisy, it was vibrating like crazy.
Thanks for your help. |

** Thought I was doing a good thing **
It is a good idea to clean lint residue from a dryer (more so inside of the cabinet than just around the lint filter area) and also cleaning its venting (all the way from the dryer to the outdoors) but care must be taken with any maintenance.

Let us know how you make out.
