Winterizing an Above-Ground Pool

10/05/2007 12:31 AM oldcoot

Living in the Antelope Valley portion of the Mojave Desert...pool size is 25' x 4'...average winter temp in the high 30's at night mid 40's daytime... occasional dips to 20's at night but warms up to high 30's daytime...rare dips to teens at night but only for a night or two...manufacturer says to drain the pool, disassemble and store it...talked with one couple who had the same (25 x 4) above ground pool for 10 years, 10 years ago...all that they did was to chlorinate heavily, cover it well and check the ph now and then and acid as required...no problems for the 10 years that they had the pool...any other experiences and/or advice for moderately cold but not severely cold climate??

Thanks for any replies
