aaah? which sells more, painting or varnishing the interior wood?

07/08/2007 08:22 PM bdazzled4

After looking in the latest home magazines I've noticed that most homes interior trim is painted white and are not varnished. I am wondering which would be a better sell to a buyer. I also have natural Oklahoma rock on the outside of the home. I hate the colors, which are gold, orange & brown. It is limiting on what color I can paint the house. Some homes in the neighborhood have the rocks painted over, but the same question comes up, in terms of a selling point, to paint or not to paint? Any ideas?

Paint or stain trim

I have had discussion with people all over the country.

In some areas painted, that is GOOD PAINT trim is concidered upscale, and stain grade is thought cheap.

In other areas you everyone expects stained trim and paint grade is looked down on.

If you are preparing to sell then you need to contact some local real estate agents and ask them what is expeceted in YOUR LOCAL and for YOUR TYPE OF HOUSE.
