air conditioner for attic

09/02/2007 02:20 PM majones

My attic area has been converted to a loft area which include a 1/2 bath, (2)plexiglass sky windows and one small/tiny fan. I want to know if there is an air conditioner out there which doesn't require a window to place it in. The loft area although nice is extremly hot during the summer months especially if i don't pump the ac up high. the thermosat is presently set at 75 and the air doesn't get in the space were the bed area is. please help with any recommendation on getting air up there without going through major construction. the fan only blow hot air after a while. Heat is not a problem with the portable heater.

thanks - michelle

There are Through the Wall units. They are similar to a window unit but fit in a sleave mounted in the wall.

Or a mini-split ductless unit. That is a hybride between a window unit and central air.

It has a (or several) small indoor units that mount on the wall or ceiling. Then an outdoor condensor unit. Only needs a small hole to run the freon and control lines.
