help!! I have a room air conditioner and even after cleaning filter it keeps freezing over. How might I stop this or what is causing it? Any thoughts?? |

Freezing up is usually caused by low charge. Have it serviced. |

also you make sure the unit is set into the window at an angle so that it drains properly. |

Freezing of the coils could be a number of things. You need to have the coils( not just the filter) cleaned at least once a year. You also need to check you thermostat setting to make sure your compressor is cycling correctly. Don't always "assume" that the unit is low on refidgerant. |

Complete frosting (white, snow-like substance) of the evaporator (cooling) coil is either caused by running the unit when inside or outside air temperature is below 70°F (most common) or poor air flow. If running it at night when temperatures fall, turn the thermostat to one of its lowest settings. Poor air flow could be caused by a dirty filter, plugged evaporator coil, loose fan blade, motor turning too slow, curtains or other obstacles directing the cold air directly back into the A/C.
