anyone built with Teck Block or Durisol?

11/27/2003 10:29 AM Walter

Hi,
I am thinking about building with Teck Block or Durisol and was wondering if anyone has built with either and your opinion of it.
Thanks, Walt

I know all about Durisol, and probably Teck Block.

Durisol adds more mass to the interior of the home. It also costs about $12.00/SF when you are done with all the trimmings, etc. You need someone that is trained to design with durisol, or have someone that can take a couple weeks and a few hundred dollars to buy the necessary books to learn, etc.

I suggest the newest better insulated (more mass in contact with the interior), easier to work with, costs less than $10.00/SF. You can even build it yourself. Any carpenter in your area can build it. All design information is free and on the website. It does not take any additional training to design with it.
You can learn about it at: www.allwallsystem.com , you will be impressed.

Type this link for my experience in design/build. http://www.allwallsystem.com/design/IntroLetter.html

IF you can find someone with more experience, listen to them.

Just a note:

The above posting by John Griffin should be considered a biased opinion as he is affiliated with All Wall System.

The posting is on the border of being an advertisement for All Wall System and advertisements are not permitted on this board.

The reason I am allowing it to remain is it may be of interest to some of you that are considering alternative options in building.

His statements concerning Durisol and Tech Block however should be considered biased by his affiliations and as such may not reflect the whole picture or the unbiased opinions of others in the trade.
