We have baseboard heating in our home. In addition to the boiler/furnace being serviced each winter, is it necessary to flush out the heating pipes of their old water and fill them with clean water each season? The technician did not mention this, but I was wondering if the pipes might get damaged with old water remaining in the system - kind of like flushing the cooling system in a car every two years. thanks for replies.... |

Old water inside sealed baseboard systems is gold. The oxygen has been used up and there is nothing left to damage the metal. Flush the old water often and you corrode your system. Leaving a leak to flush the system will kill it even faster. Be thankful you've got old H2O, it won't become something else.
