bed bugs

04/27/2008 03:13 PM sailor86

I have had an infestation of bed bugs in my bedroom for 2 or 3 months now. WE fumigated with Raid Fogger. Little relief. I then bought Boric Acid and applied generously about the bed. Again, that didn't do the trick. I now am trying a product by Sergeant's: Gold Household Flea and Tick Spray. I'm not sure yet if that gets the results I need, but I hope it does.
Anybody got experience with these things? I've been told to seek professional service but I'm not buying that yet. There has got to be something that works and is accessible to the common homeowner.

BugSpray

The "BugSpray" website provides a very informative look at a pest and its treatment.......Scholarly even....

they suggest treatment solutions and offer products for sale.......but you ultimately decide where and what you purchase and use........

I've used the information and refered the site many times......

The Bed Bug article stressed ID'ing the bug correctly........

and then a specific cleaning/killing sequence (3x) based on their reproductive cycle/eggs......

I don't remember reading boric acid or fleaNtick suggested.....

Good Luck.....and Welcome to the boards.......

"......measure Once.....cut Twice....
throw that one away and cut a new one...."

Yeah, it's a real informative website. Just the same, I'm gonna do some digging to see if they are who they say they are. But thank you for sure for the help.

Doug,I took a look at their webpage and they've got a complete physical address and when I called the toll-free number, a normal person answered. I see no reason not to go ahead and order their products. I'll let you know how that turns out.

I think I found something.

Several days ago we picked up a can of Sergeant's Gold Household Flea & Tick Spray and applied a liberal amount about the bed. So far, the past two nights have netted zero bed bugs. I hope it's not premature, so I'll keep everyone updated. If this works, I will notify the "experts" who advised me to go to a professional exterminator. Ha! I really don't like paying for something to be done when I can take care of it myself.

You-talkin-to-me?

I'm the only one you've been chatting with.......Did you ID the bugs.....

Bed bugs are BIG......Fleas are tiny

Did you READ the extensive article I linked......It suggests ways of DIY identification and treatment......

A night light over a pie-pan of water makes a good flea trap.......

Sticky boards are available at every garden center.....

"......measure Once.....cut Twice....
throw that one away and cut a new one...."

What r U talkin' about?

It goes to show you. You should never accept negative advice as your only advice. I had been emailing a doctor at Harvard University and when he suggested mailing him a specimen, I did just that. Next couple of days I got an affirmative, they're bed bugs. Unfortunatley, he swiftyly recommended professional service, but I wasn't ready to lay down just yet. So I showed them some love with a can of that spray and it looks like problem resolved. Doug, don't take issue with the fact that I searched outside of this website. It's part of what makes America great.
