black mastic adhesive |

I removed the tiles from my basement floor. There is large areas of the black mastic adhesive from the tiles. I tried using a heat gun and a product especially made to remove the black adhesive. These only seemed to remove the top layer. I am at banging my head against a wall. I am planning to lay carpet tiles. Does anybody have any other remedy for the adhesive?
Thanks

Instead of trying to remove the mastic, why not simply apply a floor levelor over the mastic and then place the carpet tiles.
Or, install a floating plywood subfloor over which the tiles can be directly laid...
There are a number of easier solutions to your problem but you may have to engage the services of a floor professional before you proceed. |

Thanks for your reply. What exactly is a floor leveler? This basement will be the death of me yet.

Floor Leveler is a concretious type masonry product that you mix, trowel over a rough floor surface, that gets out unwanted humps and bumps.
